Sustainability in the Built Environment
I am delighted to join the Department of Civil, Architectural, & Environmental Engineering at Drexel University this year, and specifically to collaborate and engage with the faculty and students in the Building Science and Energy group.
Prior to moving to Philadelphia, I lived in western Massachusetts (the picture is of the canals in Holyoke, MA) and worked at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. There, I was an assistant professor in the Building Construction and Technology program in the Department of Environmental Conservation. I taught courses on building systems, energy efficiency, and energy modeling. And I worked in cities like Holyoke to identify and analyze building performance faults.
I am particularly interested in energy savings harnessed from envelope and HVAC system optimization strategies. And I am specifically focused on older buildings, historical and cultural resources, that offer our urban environments character, vitality, and distinction.
Typically, I characterize building performance using computational models, using a suite of different tools depending on the type of analysis I'm interested in doing. If you're interested in understanding how buildings perform, from an energy perspective, please feel free to contact me. I'd be happy to meet and discuss ideas for research and community engagement.
